Breakfast is one of our favorite meals, and you have lots of tasty recipe options in this cookbook. You can make your own granola, cereal, muffins, breads and bars. Muffins can be made first thing in the morning. As they’re baking, their delicious aroma permeates the home rousting the family. The Carrot Raisin Muffins are nutritious and hit the spot. They’re ideal portion sizes for breakfast, and you can take a few with you to school, work, or the gym for a snack.
There are lots of main course recipes for all tastes, whether a meat eater or not. My family adores tuna, and the Creamy Tuna Pasta Bake resonated with them. With a can of tuna, some fresh veggies, your favorite cheese, and soup broth, you can create a meal that will have them asking for more. The recipe calls for fresh bread crumbs to top the casserole, but we like to make homemade muffins and use these instead. That the fun with recipes, there are no rules, you can alter any ingredient for one that feels better. I have a few vegans in my family, and there are eighteen different main dish recipes choices.
No meal is complete without dessert, and this books did not let me down. There are so many choices that I want to dive in and make them all. During the holidays, we have lots of people popping over for an exchange of holiday wishes and I like to serve yummy treats. A few tempting treats I’m going to make over the holidays are the Peanut Butter Cookies, Brownie Overload, and Apple Blondies with Brown Sugar Frosting. I made the Apple Blondies and through in some pineapple as well; they were beyond divine! They also have a recipe for Pineapple Upside Down Cake which I grew up on. The name alone stirs fond memories.
Each recipe has a tip or two, and some also offer variation choices for making your meal a success. There are lots of vibrantly colored images that encourage you to try the recipe. It’s nice to see the end product. Bottom line, this is an awesome must have recipe book. Recipe books are loved by all, and the Best of Bridge Home Cooking would make an ideal gift. I’m thankful it’s part of my culinary collections, I’ll never run out of ideas.
