As I age, it’s my intent to do so gracefully. I’m sure it’s your intent to do the same. Our diet and skincare regimen are the main components to our skin’s appearance. The market is flooded with “I promise this will work” products that seem to hasten the aging process and hinder any recovery due to their harsh ingredients. The onus is on us to read the labels and do research on which products will benefit our skin and ultimately our bodies. There is one compassionate company that uses a superstar ingredient that I cannot say enough good things about, Shea Butter Market.
Shea Butter Market is a Canadian company with a dual purpose. They not only provide us with organic shea butter products, they also support the Tapko Widow’s Group, a resourceful group of entrepreneurial widows living in a northern Ghana village. These widow’s gather shea nuts and make it into shea butter, which allows them to feed, educate, and enrich the lives of their families. Founder Gifty Serbeh-Dunn, who grew up in Ghana, recognized the high quality of their shea butter and the benefit of working together as a godsend. The result, a beautiful line of shea butter products.
They carry a variety of products and I was very eager to try them out after reading about the versatility of shea butter. It’s contains high levels of Vitamins A, E, and F, it’s antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and has been used to heal scars, burns, eczema, psoriasis, dandruff, stretch marks, and so on. Sounds awesome right? Well, it is.
I’m really fussy about what I put on my face. I like using organic and natural products that will promote the well being of my skin. The Pure Natural Savannah is magical. It’s a rich cream with a subtle scent that absorbs nicely into your skin leaving is silky smooth and well moisturized. I love that one of its ingredients is manuka honey. Honey is known for its healing and antibacterial qualities. It’s a peaceful product, it’s gentle and calming to weather distressed skin and helps restore some vibrancy to otherwise dull skin. It seems the more I use this product, the softer and velvety my skin feels. It leaves you with a dewy complexion which I’m enjoying. I’m using this product gingerly because I want to savor it and a little goes a long way. I really love it.
Their lip balms are so soothing. You can tell they use real essential oils because the flavors are so spirited. I personally love the divine cinnamon flavor of the Kiss Me I’m Canadian lip balm. They glide easily on your lips and don’t leave a waxy or gummy feeling afterward. You also don’t need to apply a lot and it seems to last for hours. I live in a dry area and my lips always feel parched and rough. The balms absorb easily, leave my lips soft and supple. I love these and use them daily alone or under my lipstick. Great for chapped, sunburned, cracked, and dry lips.
The Hand Crafted Shea & Cocoa Butter Soaps are ultra rich, creamy, and spa quality. They contain lots of soothing oils that leave your skin moisturized and super soft. They’re available in unscented and four refreshing fragrances. I tried out the Cedarwood and Anise, both are kind to sensitive skin like mine. The soaps offer a rich, luxurious lather that feels so nice to the skin. The only thing I would change is the size of the bar. They are a bit large, 8 cm x 8 cm x 4 cm, so it’s awkward to hold, especially for children.
The Shea Butter Foot Cream is remarkable. I like to walk around barefoot so my feet can get dry, cracked, and blistered, so I need a cream that will hydrate and soften. The Shea Butter foot cream has the blissful scent of peppermint that is so calming to the senses. It also includes tea tree oil and eucalyptus, both are recognized for their healing and medicinal purposes. You’re literally pampering your feet with this amazing cream. It feels cool and tingly on the tooties and moisturizes the dry areas so effectively. Importantly, it’s non greasy or sticky. I thought it did a superior job at rehydrating my parched skin. I’ve also used it on my knees and elbows. It’s wonderful.
All of Shea Butter Market products are awesome and I would definitely recommend them!
