Cutting down on meal prep and cooking time is undeniably on our wish list, especially during the holiday season. I like to make a lot of homemade cozy meals but this is not always possible if I have lots of shopping to do, oodles of guests and happen to come home late. One of the easiest ways to accomplish making wholesome meals when your on a time crunch is with a crock pot.
Crock-Pot believes in creating slow cookers that make life a whole lot easier and more economical when planning our meals. My mom used a slow cooker quite a bit when I was growing up and I remember wonderful aromas permeating through the house when I came home from school. I had a crock pot handed down to me ages ago but after it broke I never replaced it.
I had the opportunity to try out the Crock Pot 6 Quarts Programmable Smart Pot. First I want to say that the Crock Pot arrived very quickly and was extremely well packed. This crock-pot is huge, 6 quarts, ideal for 7+ people and therefore perfect for some of my family get togethers. The outside is made from stunning stainless steel which looks so chic in my kitchen, and it comes with a durable tempered glass lid.
The controls are very easy to use. It features one-touch control and has multiple time and temperature settings. It has a built in thermometer and countdown timer and four different time settings, 4 hrs, 6 hrs on high and 8 hrs and 10 hrs on low and then there is a warm setting. You simply press the power button, make your choices and the rest is on auto pilot. It will automatically switch to the warm setting when the cook time is done. That’s it, it does all the thinking for you!
I made several casseroles, hearty stews and soups over the festive season in the crock-pot, and boy what a life saver it proved to be. I put all the ingredients in the morning, went out for the day and returned to have dinner ready and steaming. I love that the inside black stoneware is removable and can be used as a serving dish. I put a serving spoon in the stoneware and let everyone help themselves. It looks lovely on the table with its nice waffle design on the upper part and fit in well with my holiday decor.
This crock-pot is very heavy but comes with sure grip handles for easy moving and added comfort. It would be too heavy for little kids to handle, plus it does get very hot. Clean up is very easy too with its stick resistant coating and it’s also safe to use in your dishwasher. As an eco person I was delighted that it consumes less energy than conventional ovens. It’s such a handy and convenient appliance to have in your home and I appreciate how versatile it is. Smart pot indeed, it’s uncomplicated and a breeze to use. I love it and wonder how I lived all these years without one!
