Fit Moms for Life Book Review & Giveaway

With the New Year only days away we may reflect about how 2011 went for us. Perhaps there a few things we wanted to do but couldn’t find the time, or you have realized there are things you must do.  Henry Wadsworth Longfellow said it well “Look not mournfully into the past. It comes not back again. Wisely improve the present.  It is thine. Go forth to meet the shadowy future, without fear, and with a manly heart“.

With most of us our New Year’s resolution is usually about quitting some bad habit. Every year I think, okay this year I’m going to lose those extra pounds and maintain my weight loss. Having the correct tools to achieve this is important. Many of us don’t really know how to balance our meals or which exercises are best to get quick results.

There is a new Fitness kid on the block and he’s taking North America by storm. Dustin Maher’s personal agenda is to help mom’s of all shapes and sizes get fit. In fact he wants to reach one million moms by the end of 2015 by providing them with the support they need to change their lives forever. How? First he has written a book called Fit Moms for Life and secondly he has created a series of fitness DVD’s featuring real moms who were successful using his program.

The book Fit Moms for Life is going to rattle some of your beliefs. We’ve all been told to walk an hour every day or do aerobics for 45 – 60 minutes a day, but many of us are not seeing any results.  Dustin’s approach is different. He believes in Burst training which is much more effective and efficient.  Burst training means you workout at a very high intensity for a shorter duration, rest for a short time, and then repeat your high intensity exercises 1 – 2 more times.

The book also talks about quality fuel, by eating organic natural foods that supply your body with the minerals and nutrients necessary to nourish your body. Hey you can even have 2 – 3 cheat meals a week, so you are not robbed of your favorite treat.  He also provides a few meal recipes to give you an idea about how many calories, fats, proteins and carbs we should eat.  I was a little disappointed that a vegan substitute was not mentioned. Many fitness experts are under the false impression that all vegans are healthy – not so!

There are 31 real life examples of  inspirational transformations. Before and after pictures are shown proving Dustin’s system works.  A sample workout is at the back of the book so you have an idea what your workout will be like. The book is packed with good information and positive  messages.

The Fit Mom for Life DVD I received is the first in a series of 12. Each month you get a new DVD with a different successful mom as the star. They are 60 minutes long that contains 30 minutes of body toning strength training, 10 minutes of tummy toning abs, 8 minutes of burst training to burn the fat, and a nice warm up and cool down.  It also features a 12 minute cooking or nutrition segment followed by an interview with the mom featured in the DVD.

They only thing I wish they showed was alternative exercises for those who cannot do lunges, squats or push ups at the onset.  It would have been nice to see a second person showing a modified version of each exercise. I cannot do lunges for squats because my knees hurt so much.

This is a 12 month program and each DVD progresses upon the previous.  After a year you will be in unbelievable shape!  The monthly program only costs $39/month which includes all taxes and shipping.

The generous people at Fit Mom for Life would love to offer one lucky reader the Fit Mom for Life book. Thank you very much Dustin Maher.

I like the Baby Tone Workout. A product that hits the nail on the head. I would have never expected any guy, but especially a guy his age, to see the problem so many moms face when finding the time to exercise while managing a busy family. Sounds like his mother did a terrific job.

Im willing to try anything. Thats is as long as it doesnt involve bending. Had survey on L4-L5 in 2008 now I have difficulty when bending. Its very painful. My survey did not improve my backpain. It made it worse. I need to strengthen and get rid of my stomach.

I got stuck on reading A Success story from a Husband’s Perspective. I’m a sucker for that kind of stuff since I have 45 lbs extra on me. I think I might like the Buddy Workout, because the Baby Tone might not work for me since the youngest baby I have is 2 yrs and pretty tall. :)
